Hello, and welcome to the beginning of a new school year. My name is Mrs. Barbara Stevens, and I will be the teacher for the students in Eagleton's room 15. Allow me to tell a little about myself. I have been teaching at Eagleton for 19 years! This year is the beginning of my 20th year. I feel that Eagleton and the community around it has become my second home. This is my third year teaching 5th grade at Eagleton.
All students should enjoy their 5th grade experience at Eagleton. This year we will be sleeping over one night at Balarat, the district's outdoor lab facility. This experience is usually the highlight for our students. We will be studying the history of the United States of America and doing several "celebrations" centered on understanding what is was like living in times and/or places other than our own.
Eagleton is very centered on student achievement and 5th grade is no exception. Students in room 15 will be expected to read a short book every night for homework and come prepared to take and AR quiz on the computer in the morning. Each student is encouraged to begin reviewing the multiliplication tables now because our math lessons are based on math factors and fractions. Knowing your multiplication factors (both backwards and forwards) will be imperative as we move into higher math skills.
Students will be expected to complete homework for math every night except for Friday and will have weekly Spelling assignments. If students need help with their homework, I am available after school and before school.
